If you had asked if I liked vests a week ago I would have shrugged and shook my head no, but apparently a lot can change in a week, like swearing off sugar or taking travel mugs to Starbucks. The last few days have proven two things to me: 1. I'm incredibly weak-willed; and 2. I like vests... Hows that for a light bulb moment?

Happy Wednesday! xx

Hello and happy Monday, friends! As you read this, I'll be doing one of three things: 1. sleeping in; 2. visiting my new local library; or 3. watching an old, black and white movie with Mr. AiF at the museum.... Ooooh yeah. In case you couldn't tell, I have the day off and I'm pretty dang excited. Not to rub it in or anything, but I'm probably doing an it's-Monday-and-I-don't-have-to-work happy dance this very moment. What can I say, life is good.

Have a fab day, lovelies! Whatever you do, don't work too hard... xx

{Valentine's Week} The Date...

My mister and I are diurnal creatures, so the majority of our jaunts happen during daylight hours... Dates included. It just so happens that our favourite activities are better suited to daytime, like leisurely strolls, brunching (our fave!), vintage shopping and coffee-drinking galore (trust me, late night caffeine and I do not mix). Kassie and her adorable hubby snapped some pics of us during a double date last weekend, and despite the piggy backing and Dungeons & Dragons, these photos pretty much capture a typical lobbie day-date... Photos (much to the dismay of Mr. AiF) and all.

In other news, I want to thank Hayden Reis for sending me this adorable striped tote, which is quickly becoming my new favourite work/gallivanting bag. It just has so many pockets and handy snaps that I've found myself lugging it around on the daily, which is always good because my current tote has seen better days... And speaking of better days, I recently replaced my four-year-old coat with this snazzy — albeit nautical — Zara coat. Gotta love end of season sales, am I right?

Happy Valentine's Day, friends — Hope everyone has a fun, sugar-filled day! xx

Gold pleats, and chain motifs, and houndstooth accents — Oh my! There's a lot going on in this outfit, but I wouldn't have it any other way... And hey, while we're at it why not throw in a pop of red? Now we're talking.

Clothing and jewelry aside, there's something to be said about a good, basic bag, am I right? A black, compartment-packed cross body can make life oh-so easy, and this Nella Bella number does just that. It has removable pieces so you can wear it as a bag or clutch, upping its multifunctional factor... Now that's my kind of bag.

Happy Monday, friendlies! xx

It's no big secret that I'm a huuuuge fan of stripes— I mean seriously, can you think of a more versatile print? It's an all-season style that can be rocked just as easily in spring as it can come fall, which is precisely why I love it so. This particular dress is perfect for brisk days because it's lined, long sleeved and lovely... How's that for your daily dose of alliteration? Throw on a woven belt, breezy vest and a pop-o-colour cuff (nicely done, Joe Fresh!) and you've got yourself a fall-tastic look. Easy peasy.

It's been several months and I still can't get enough of these pants... I've worn them more times than I care to count, which pretty much makes them the best $30 I've ever spent. And if you think about it, that's quite the return on investment — waaaaay better than six lattes, a fancy lipstick or whatever else $30 gets you now a days (listen to me, I sound like Grandma Moses or something). I guess H&M is just trying to give their customers a leg up... Ba da bum cha!

Ok, ok, enough cheese from me — Happy Thursday lovelies! xx

I bought these pants a few weeks ago while in New York, but for some reason I forgot all about them until this past weekend. Super lame on my part (what a dumb dumb!), but awesome because their reappearance couldn't have come at a better time. You see my friends, the impossible is happening— I, Vickie Laliotis, shopping junkie and clothing fiend, am embarking on a month-long shopping ban. So if anything, rediscovering these bad boys eases the pain that not shopping has left in my heart... Sigh.

So why am I putting myself through such anguish, you ask? Well lovelies, let me lay it all out for you. First of all, I went a little crazy in NYC (you'll be seeing more of the damage in upcoming posts!) and I need to spend a little time paying off the old credit card. Second, and most important, I think it's time I came back down to earth and worked with the existing pieces in my wardrobe, of which believe me there are plenty. Blogging can sometimes skew your perception of what's important, and as much as I love shopping and putting together outfits, I don't think it's always healthy to let yourself get carried away. Somewhere along the way I lost that sense of balance, so I figure one month sans shopping will help me appreciate what I have and show me that I don't always need to buy something new to stay relevant... At least I hope not.

So here's to one month of recycling, remixing and shopping my own closet... Happy October! xx
