{Style} Amusements...

Sometimes the stars align and the photo gods smile down on me... And other times it just rains. But this time — joy of joys! — was of the stars-aligning variety, because my pal Brittney and I stumbled on this adorable amusement park while visiting a small town for work. It was still being set up at the time, but the super nice staff gave us free-range of the park, which we pretty much ran around like school girls until we were too hungry to keep going... And believe me when I tell you that no one likes "hangry" Vickie.

{Details} Dotted Haze...

Remember yesterday's post about working ahead, batching and doing whatever you can to stay on top of your blog? Well this post is an example of what not to do. For instance, don't neglect to take photos ahead of time and instead force yourself to pose in the rain at 5 p.m.... Just don't do it. Oh, and if you know you're going to an event after work (Cirque de Soleil, whaaaat!), do not leave the editing and writing of your next day's post until after you get home... You know, unless you actually like staying up until 1 a.m. and being a total crankasaurus at work the next day. Seriously, don't do it.

{Style} Pipe Dreams...

Sometimes nothing shows off polka dots quite like industrial pipes, which is probably why you're thinking to yourself, "Man those are some powerful dots" right now. In the off chance that you weren't thinking that (*ahem*), I forgive you. My friend Brittney on the other hand, not so much... You see, not only did she take these photos, but she serendipitously scouted the location as well. So take it from me, don't mess.

In other, less ridiculous news, Target finally opened it's bright red doors to its Canadian brethren yesterday, which prompted me to go a tad overboard in the clothing department. But with so much adorableness to choose from, I left the store feeling like I hit the jackpot... Or — if you prefer — the bullseye.

{Style} The Perfect Shirt...

I've been under the weather the past few days, so it's been challenging coming up with content while feeling so crummy. But since this Current/Elliott blouse just came in the mail, I couldn't resist showing it to you guys. They call it the 'perfect shirt' which, after having worn it for a few days, I couldn't agree with more. I just love the loose silhouette, soft fabric and fun coral hue oh-so much, all of which will transition nicely into spring, wouldn't you say? Now if only it would get here and I would stop getting sick all the time... sigh.

{Style} Springing Forward...

Nothing says spring quite like polka dots and bright, vibrant hues, which I'm desperately trying to channel in my fair winter city. Any excuse to don playful separates sans parka and snow boots is fine by me, so naturally I jumped at the chance to bust out these polka dot skinnies at a social media conference over the weekend. I got to learn from some of my city's finest (including homegirls Kastles and Britl— what what!) while basking in the glory of these white, spotted jeans... I'm not shallow, I swear. xx

{Style} Spotted...

Well it's official: I love my new polka dot jeans. I imagine you'll be seeing a lot of these puppies in the coming months (as if two days in a row weren't enough), so consider yourselves forewarned. Another item I anticipate using on the regular is my new Nella Bella snake canvas tote*. It's from their Spring 2013 Collection, which is ripe with smooth, soft textures and vibrant hues. I love this bag because it has multiple compartments for maximum storage (a girl always has to be prepared!) and the padded handles sit nicely on my shoulders, which is often a problem for me. And did I mention that this little piece of snake print heaven is actually vegan? Guilt free and super fly — Now that's my kind of bag! xx

{DIY} Polka Dot Jeans...

I've wanted these polka dot jeans from the Gap for aaaages, but never got around to buying them, partly because I didn't think I should spend 70 big ones on a trend item, and partly because I wanted to make my own version. This is probably the easiest DIY I've ever done (apart from just slathering nail polish on jewelry), and I'm ecstatic with the result. I mean seriously, all you need is a pair of jeans (washed, if they're brand new!) and a fabric paint pen from the craft store... How easy is that?!



Since these bad boys are DIY I wanted them to look that way, so I didn't bother measuring out my polka dot placement. I really like the irregular, freestyled effect, but if you prefer a more symmetrical look, refer to this post. If you're a free spirit (aka- lazy) DIY'er like me, just dot away— I bet you'll love the effect either way. Just remember not to wash your snazzy new jeans for at least 72 hours after completing the DIY to preserve your pretty little dots! Easy peasy. xx
