Ever since writing this post title, I can't get that Venga Boys song out of my head... Ack! Annoying maybe, but fitting as this is what I wore to ring in the new year with family and friends. I'm slightly obsessed with this skirt from local design darling Malorie Urbanovitch, and to prove it, I've worn it more times than would be considered appropriate for the short length of time I've owned it... But I guess that's the mark of a good thing, no? And speaking of good things, I'm still buzzing with excitement at the thought of a new year and all the potential it holds... Let's make 2014 count, friends! xx

{Style} The Long and Shorts Of It...

Sometimes the stars align and the retail gods smile down on you juuuuust long enough to score something you didn't know you wanted — or heck, even needed — until the moment you lay eyes on it. Throw in a mind-blowing sale, and you've got yourself the stuff of miracles.... Or, you know, personal debt. Either way, totally awesome. Which brings me to exhibit A: these mighty fine McQ Alexander McQueen shorts. Not only were they about 80% off at Simons (score!), but they fit and flatter in ways that my other shorts could only dream of... Eat your heart out, denim cut offs! xx

Now I swear I wasn't trying to channel my inner leprechaun here or anything, but somehow my blazer, pants AND nails were all green yesterday... Coincidentally, I may have a new favourite colour, but that's totally unrelated,  I swear.

In other news, can we just talk about how sweet these jungle print jeans are for a second? I bought them at Zara a few weeks back and have worn them more times than I can count... I think a new obsession is born — Again. xx

I'm sorry, but can we just talk about the whole lip motif that's going on this season? I don't know what it is about this retro-inspired, mouth-agape print, but I'm digging it and in a big way. Seems like everywhere I turn there's a big scarlet pout (checkout homegirls Kastles and Krystin for some serious styling inspo!), so don't be surprised if I suddenly start marking all my clothes and clutches with kiss marks or something... Hmmm, I wonder if I could actually do that? I feel some bad life choices coming on. xx

{Style} One More Time...

If you were driving down the streets of Calgary yesterday and saw a girl flashing you in a black skirt, that was probably me. But hey, YOU try controlling your hair and skirt on a mega-windy day... Not easy. Luckily we were able to keep it together long enough to snap a few pics and minimize the number of creepy dudes making even creepier comments. And for the record guys, yelling "pull up your skirt" at a girl on the side of the road is probably not the best way to make an impression... Sorry to break it to you.

{Style} The Wonder Years...

I'm not sure if Kevin ever gave Winnie his varsity jacket back at McKinley High — or if he even wore varsity jackets, for that matter — but since I keep meaning to rewatch The Wonder Years (I'm currently deep in Felicity and Buffy the Vampire Slayer land), the title just felt right. I mean, can you think of anything more quintessentially "high school" than a varsity jacket? I keep picturing the Wakefield sisters (or some other stereotypical teen dream) running around in their boyfriends' oversized jackets looking all cute and popular... But as someone who had neither the boyfriend nor the varsity jacket in high school, the closest I can get is this Forever 21 version I bought for myself well into adulthood... Hey, it's never too late. xx
