{WW} In The Bag

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Suede duffel bag- Topshop (new version) | tank- ACNE | jeans- Gap | bangles- J.Crew + Hudson's Bay | lipstick- Stila's 'Beso'

I briefly showed you guys this gem of a bag during last week's mini haul, but I just couldn't resist introducing you to her once again, and in a little more detail... I mean seriously, isn't she a beaut?! Not to get all Helen Hunt up in here, but I'm mad about you, little Topshop bag (weird reference?). In fact, I've coveted it since spotting it on Anna a while back, but since my local TS didn't seem to carry it, I came to terms with the fact that we would never be together... Long story short, I happened upon it while in Vancouver, ON SALE and waiting for me — kismet.

Now sadly this bag is sold out (I know, I'm sorry!), but fret not my friends — she has a sister! Equally cute and something of a fall counterpart, this version ain't half bad... I'm officially tempted. xx

{WW} Sale Season

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

It's that time again — sale season! You know, that magical time of the year when the items you've coveted for the past few months are suddenly half price (or less!) and you can't come up with a logical reason not to buy them... If you're hearing Andy Williams ringing in your ears right about now, you're not alone my friend.

I stumbled into Topshop and J.Crew last week, with no other intention than to look around and kill some time (pfft, who am I kidding?!). Before I knew what was up, I was scooping up items left, right and centre, mad-dashing for the till. That Topshop bag was something I had been searching for for months, and not only did I find it there waiting for me on that faithful day, but it was on sale for $25! That J.Crew neckalce? $58 from $168! Oh, and that chartreuse dream of a dress? Yup, 20 big ones. Long story short, the time to shop is now!

And just to drive my point home (although slightly a different situation), I happened upon a location of Club Monaco that was closing down in Victoria yesterday and scored over $500 of merch for $60! Dreams really do come true. And hey, if that's not enough sale shopping for you, you could always check out the sweet scores to be had on ShopBop (extra 25% off select sale items today!), ASOS, River Island and Neiman Marcus... you know, just to name a few. xx

{WW} The Paper Bag Clutch

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Clutch- Choies | Tshirt- H&M | boyfriend jeans c/o American Eagle | sunnies- Kimono (borrowed from The Pretty Secrets) |
ring + bangles- Hudson's Bay
I'm kind of in love with the whole paper bag clutch trend right now, and when it happens to come in the form of neon, all the better. This one in particular is great because it's spacious and very affordable (under $30!), making it the perfect way to ease into the look... And if you're feeling particularly industrious, check out this DIY project — mad respect for anyone who tries it!

Happy Wardrobe Wednesday love bugs, and thanks for reading! xx

{WW} Styling KENZO's No Fish Top

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Top- Kenzo | sweat pants- Simons | heels- ShoeMint | bag c/o Lulus | bracelet- DIY
KENZO is just one of those brands that I go crazy for season after season... From tigers to eye balls, I'm a fan girl through and through. So when they debuted their fish motif a while back, naturally I began plotting my next purchase. I decided that this tank was the piece for me; that is, until I found this cropped version at Simons — get this — on sale. And let me tell you friends, delayed gratification never tasted so sweet. The cut of this one is perfect for throwing on with high waisted jeans or shorts, and I even love tucking it into a skirt.
Oh, and let's not forget faux leather track pants.

Happy Wardrobe Wednesday, loves! xx

{WW} Feeling Sporty

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Jacket- Maison Scotch | top- vintage | skort- Zara (old; similar here) | sneakers- Heidi Klum x New Balance | bag- Alexander Wang | necklace- Hudson's Bay | rings- Forever 21
I've been on the hunt for the perfect sneakers for a few months now, but I was never quite able to find what I was looking for. The options were either too frumpy or didn't quite fit right, or were just plain not cute. These New Balance beauties completely fit the bill, and for someone who's running shoe adverse, it was love at first sight. Fun fact? Evidently they were designed by Heidi Klum, which may or may not have something to do with my admiration of them... Heidi doesn't do frump! Regardless, my feet are happy and so is my heart — not in terms of, like, cardio or anything (perish the thought).

{WW} Summer Stripes

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Tank- J.Crew | boyfriend jeans c/o American Eagle | heels c/o Sole Society | striped clutch- Coach | necklace- Zara | ring- CC Skye | bangles- J.Crew | watch- Michael Kors
What is it about stripes that just screams summer? Maybe there's some residual excitement from all those Breton top sightings (IRL and on Pinterest) — or the fact that they seem to creep up on every beach bag from here to J.Crew — but the summer appeal of the stripe is undeniable. Add some yellow to the mix, and you may as well be poolside, girlie drink in hand.

I was particularly taken by this little clutch from Coach, and although not typically a fan of the brand, I just couldn't resist it's feminine charms... seriously though, the stripes! That colour! The size! I am only human, after all. Sorry Mr. AiF — the little striped bag made me do it. xx

{WW} New In + What's In My Bag

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Hello all! I picked up this adorable little clutch over the weekend from Chapter's, and I just couldn't resist showing you guys — not only is it cheap 'n cheerful (under $20 and NEON!), but it's surprisingly spacious as well.

Can we also talk about how neon green is the new neutral? It literally has gone with everything I've worn so far this week... Granted it's only Wednesday, but still. So without further ado, here's what's currently in this bad boy!

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder | Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic | Nivea Smooth Replenishing hand cream | iPhone (duh) | Michael Kors wallet

Can you believe that giant of a wallet fits in there, with room to spare?! Geesh. Keeping the contents of my bag (and really, the bag itself) light has done wonders for both my shoulder AND my mood, so I think you'll probably be seeing a lot more of this clutch in the months to come... Don't hate.

Thanks for reading love bugs, and happy Wardrobe Wednesday! xx

{WW} Falling For Birks

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Tshirt- Sincerely Jules | boyfriend jeans- Gap | birks- Steve Madden c/o Lulus
Remember all those Wardrobe Wednesdays ago when I expressed my new-found love for birks and how to wear them? Well, that love has substantially deepened, and although not Birks proper, these Steve Madden puppies sure are swell... And here I am wearing them with boyfriend jeans, so I guess I do take my own advice after all — who would have thought. Cringe if you must, but these bad boys are beyond comfy and go with pretty much everything, signalling that I've reached the point of no return where 'ugly' shoes are concerned. Sorry, not sorry. xx

{WW} Show + Tell: ShoeMint Edition

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

So here's the thing about ShoeMint: I always seem to forget that I have a membership. Translation? I end up being charged for shoes each month even when I don't really want/need them. But you know what comes next? That rush of ordering multiple pairs from your credits, pretending like they're a free gift just for being awesome... At least that's what I like to tell myself. Long story short, this is what happened when I forgot to skip April and May — shopping spree! So if you'll humour me, a little show + tell:

THE PRACTICAL PICK: These metallic sandals ($90) where just the ticket to help me rebuild my summer sandal stock after my d-o-double-g had her way with them (that jerk). They're comfy and understated, with just the right amount of va va voom... Aka exactly what I needed.

JUST FOR FUN: I have a hard time turning down a great pair of heels, even if I only wear them sporadically. Needless to say, these bad boys ($90) had to be mine, and I for one plan on getting past Vickie's money's worth — expect oodles of outfit posts to come! xx

{WW} The Kimono

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Kimono- Zara | blouse- Topshop | faux leather pants- Aritzia | clutch- 3.1 Phillip Lim | necklaces- Moon Raven Designs
+ Lia Sophia (c/o) | heels- ShoeMint
You know how Monday's pants were slightly reminiscent of pajama bottoms? Well if that's the case, then this kimono is a robe... a gloriously comfy, lightweight robe. Are we sensing a pattern here? Yes, I'm lazy and like to pretend everyday is Sunday where my wardrobe is concerned — but can you really blame me? Life's hard enough without all those binding bits of clothing getting you down... so bring on the kimonos, and keep them flowing! And hey, if they happen to take the form of pastel florals with a dash of fringe, all the better. xx

{WW} Having An Overalls Moment

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Overalls- Topshop | tshirt- Zara | wedges- Pour la Victoire (similar) | clutch- Diane Von Furstenberg | necklaces- J.Crew + Forever 21 | bracelets- H&M + Lia Sophia (c/o) | ring- vintage
So can we just take a moment to address the elephant in the room? Yes, I'm wearing overalls, and no, it's not 1994. Shocking, I know. But hey, at least it's a step up from the brown corduroy set I used to rock with baby doll tshirts, glasses and frizzy hair, right? Like it or not (and for those who fall in the latter category, I can feel you cringe from here), overalls are back and I'm not even mad. From Blossom and Clarissa, to Angela Chase herself, all the greats wore them — even Tai had her overalls moment. So I figure that just means I'm in good company... Yes, let's go with that.

If you want to get the look, Free People have a really nice pair of full-on overalls, while I'm loving the shorts coming from FRAME Denim. And hey, when all else fails, there's always trusty Topshop to the rescue... A girl's got to have options.

In other news, it's time to announce the winner of my #GIRLBOSS book giveaway — are you ready? The winner is... Kelsey Archer! Congrats, girl! And thanks to everyone who entered... look out for more fun giveaways in the months to come! xx

{WW} How To Wear Birkenstocks

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

I can hardly believe I'm saying this, but I'm obsessed with Birkenstocks. Regardless of how much I've heckled them over the years — and despite the fact that I think "Travis Birkenstock, 38 tardies, by far the most tardies in the class" every time I hear that word — I want a pair and in a bad way. I'm not sure what it is about ugly shoes these days (aside from the comfort factor, obvi), but I for one am not complaining. So if you find yourself crushing on a pair of Birks too (come on, who are you kidding?), here are two ways to work them into your look.

Nothing embodies the laid back cool of Birkenstocks quite like boyfriend jeans, chambray shirts and slouchy sweaters (am I right?), so if you're looking for an surefire way to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe, then look no further. And although skirts, dresses and all things girlie are still totally on the table, I say why mess with a good thing? xx

{WW} Cocorose London Flats

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Cocorose London Ballet flats
You might not be able to tell by reading my blog, but I'm a flats girl, through-and-through... In fact, I wear flat, comfy shoes about 90 per cent of the time. So when an opportunity to try out new, insanely comfy ballet flats arose, I just couldn't pass it up. Enter Cocorose London. These shoes are about as comfortable as it gets, with little pockets here and there of cushy support... not to mention the fact that all the styles, colours and finishes available are enough to make a girl's head spin, but I digress... And did I mention that they're comfortable? Oh right, my bad.

Cocorose London Ballet flats
My personal favourites include anything that's bright, patterned, or even half resembling a loafer (see above!), but in terms of classic, day-to-day flats, these embossed, navy cap toes are my pick. They just hold a certain Parisian flair — especially when paired with stripes, skinnies and a trench — that make casual days seem all the more polished, and I can't stress enough how comfy they are. Call me a broken record, but my feet never felt quite so fine. xx

{WW} Sunglasses Anonymous

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Hi, my name is Vickie and I'm an sunglassaholic. Oh, you're one too? Nice to meet you. Since we're being honest and all, I'm OK with my addiction — heck, I see no reason not to enable it each summer. This year's conquest? The aviator. I couldn't quite pull them off when I was banging (err, had bangs), but now that I'm all side-swept and all, it's gonna happen... Even if that means baby steps (aka shelling out $15 for Joe Fresh versus splurging on Ray Bans), I'm committed to the cause — who's with me!

{WW} Metallic Shoes For Spring

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Metallic silver sandals for spring from Lulus.com
Nothing says spring quite like metallics, so when these sandals arrived in the mail recently, I took it as a personal sign that the seasons were a-changing. Unfortunately for me that change was more snowfall than spring, but hey — you can't win every time, now can you? Anyways, back to metallics. They're fun, eye-catching (so shiny!) and just the ticket to put an extra spring in that step this time of year. It's kind of like elegant chic meets cruise-ship-lady, which is probably why I dig it... xx

{WW} The Perfect Match: Nails + Bags

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

You know how everyone used to be all about matching their shoes to their bags? Well thankfully that dressing convention is long gone, but wouldn't it be fun to match our nails to our bags instead? I think so! Here are some combo suggestions to get your style juices flowing:

Powder blue is like a breath of fresh air after months of oxblood this and mustard that, so why not embrace this airy hue on your arm and fingers alike? The 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli is the best money I ever spent, but how amazing is it in this fun shade for spring?! Add a little lacquer by way of Deborah Lippmann's 'Blue Orchid' and your arms will be an Instagram photo waiting to happen.
Everyone loves a good pop of pink every now and then (or at least they should!), and this shade has me yearning for spring in a big way. From this gorgeous designer version to amazing Forever 21 or ASOS scores, there's a hue to match every taste and budget. The cherry on the cake? Pairing it with a perfectly pretty polish like this one from Bobbi Brown — Amazefest USA!
White out is white hot, especially where nails are concerned. Brush some of the light stuff on your digits (I love Essie's version) and grab a white clutch or tote — the only challenge you'll face here is keeping that leather clean... Challenge accepted, Milly bag.
Spring just isn't spring without a little mint action, and Essie's Mint Candy Apple has been one of my go-tos for the last couple years. Just imagine how darling it would look paired with this quilted bunny bag from ASOS! Forget what I said earlier — this one's the Instagram gold!
