Nordstrom Anniversary Sale round 2!

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is almost over!  The prices go back up on Monday so I did one last look to see what I may have missed and of course came upon things that I just had to have.  I'm not typically one to order a ton of stuff and return it as returning stuff is annoying to me but I had to do it as I found so much stuff that I like but I know I can't keep it all.  I have these items on the way to me and I'll decide after I get them which ones I like best.

I love jackets and trust me when you live in Seattle, jackets are a must have for 9-10 months out of the year.  I have been loving the moto jacket look and found these three that I think will pair with almost everything in my wardrobe. 

1. Quilted leather moto jacket - I don't own anything this beige color but I love how it's paired with gray here which I do own a lot of so I'm thinking it may be good for me to venture out and try out this color.  The one thing I'm concerned with is if it's too close to my skin tone which happens a lot with this color and then it just looks weird on me.
2. Faux leather moto jacket - I'm always a fan of the mixed materials in jackets, I love the look of the different textures so I'm really liking the look of this and think it will look great paired with boyfriend jeans and skinny jeans.
3. Boucle jacket - This jacket may not keep me too warm, I'll have to see how thin it is but I love the color and the texture.  It also comes in petite sizing which I'm hoping that the sleeves will fit me as usually I find that jackets are much too long on my arms so I have to roll up or scrunch the sleeves.

I always need more sweaters!  I love to layer them over blouses or I like to look for details that will look great underneath a jacket.  Most of the time in fall, I rarely take my jacket off when I'm out and about.

1. Crochet sweater -  I love the crochet detail and it's really pretty in the pink too.  It's juinors sizing though so I'm always a little wary of the stuff from the juniors department.  I find it to fit either too boxy or too tight.  This one I'm thinking might be too boxy but we'll see.  I did see this very similar but luxe version by Joie. I may have to order it just in case!
2. Stripe sweater - this looks very similar to the sweater I got last year that I love.  I wore it so much during the winter so I like that they updated it.
3. Floral sweater - I tend to stick to smaller patterns which they say work better for most people, especially if you are on the shorter side but I wanted to try this floral one.  I love how they paired it with boyfriend jeans which as much as I love my skinny jeans, I've been trying to incorporate the boyfriend jeans into my outfits more.

Bows & Polka Dots - Summer, Fall and for your Little

Prints are always a fun way to add some personality to your outfit. Personally, I love daintier prints that don’t overwhelm my frame, so currently I’ve been obsessed with bows and polka dots.

For the summer I love little accents that add to my outfits.

{WW} Sale Season

It's that time again — sale season! You know, that magical time of the year when the items you've coveted for the past few months are suddenly half price (or less!) and you can't come up with a logical reason not to buy them... If you're hearing Andy Williams ringing in your ears right about now, you're not alone my friend.

I stumbled into Topshop and J.Crew last week, with no other intention than to look around and kill some time (pfft, who am I kidding?!). Before I knew what was up, I was scooping up items left, right and centre, mad-dashing for the till. That Topshop bag was something I had been searching for for months, and not only did I find it there waiting for me on that faithful day, but it was on sale for $25! That J.Crew neckalce? $58 from $168! Oh, and that chartreuse dream of a dress? Yup, 20 big ones. Long story short, the time to shop is now!

And just to drive my point home (although slightly a different situation), I happened upon a location of Club Monaco that was closing down in Victoria yesterday and scored over $500 of merch for $60! Dreams really do come true. And hey, if that's not enough sale shopping for you, you could always check out the sweet scores to be had on ShopBop (extra 25% off select sale items today!), ASOS, River Island and Neiman Marcus... you know, just to name a few. xx

Losing my mind with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale right about now. When it comes to shopping I usually find myself in a bit of a fashion dilemma... There's a side of me that gravitates towards sleek minimal style, but then a bright statement piece (or 20) will catch my eye, and I'm left torn. While it's fun to mix and match, sometimes I wish my personal style wasn't so broad. Any of you go through this as well?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

I'm an avid Nordstrom shopper so always get excited for the Anniversary Sale.  Such a great time to stock up on fall styles (and my favorite time of the year for fashion is fall!) They have a preview going on for cardholders right now so I had to do a bit of shopping.  If you don't have a card, you'll be able to shop the sale on July 18th, so here's my picks from the preview in case you are interested!

1. McGinn Tweed Jacket - always love a tweed jacket for fall and winter and love the color combo.  Perfect to wear with jeans or over a LBD with booties.

2. Burberry Brit Jacket - We wear coats and jackets for most of the year here so I tend to invest in coats since I know that I will wear them almost every day.  I love this quilted coat that's not too puffy and still very stylish.  I think it will look great with everything I own!

3. Tildon dress
- I'm a sucker for long sleeve dresses.  This is the perfect dress to fab jewelry and other accessories too as it's a bit of a blank slate.  I would do either a statement necklace or put my hair up and some glam earrings.
4. Loeffler Randall Clutch - I love the fall tones of this clutch and I am picturing it with all my fall outfits already.  It comes in gold too which I contemplated getting as well!
5. Halogen Love Sweater - I got a few of these Halogen sweaters last year and love the new patterns that they came out with this year.  These sweaters are so soft and fit a bit slouchy so perfectly casual yet stylish.
6. Alice + Olivia Wrap Sweater - I love wrap sweaters and that you can style them a bit differently depending on how you wrap them.  Alice + Olivia is one of my favorite brands and I can always count on them for great quality pieces.
7. Phillip Lim Mini Pashli - my sister has a mini pashli bag that I love so when I spotted this on sale I had to scoop it up.  It looks like it's sold out now but the regular size pashli is also on sale in multicolor and this pretty nude color.

The Anniversary sale is also a great time to stock up on some beauty items.  They have a lot of exclusives just for the sale.  Very excited about the nude eyeshadow palette even though I mainly just have nude eyeshadows, I just love these palettes that just put them all together and is easy to travel with.  I buy the NARS cheek palette every Anniversary sale but it is hands down my favorite blush and bronzers.

Need to get my hands on this black cape blazer! It looks perfect with the minimal necklace, destroyed denim and strappy heeled sandals.

PROENZA SCHOULER ON A BUDGET

This goes out to all the Proenza Shouler fans with champagne taste on a beer budget... A white and metallic pleated midi skirt that echoes the gorgeous dress version that walked down the runway for S/S 2014? Yes, please!

Shorts Style

I used to live in dresses during the summer but once I gave shorts a try (I used to never wear shorts!) I couldn't live without them!  I love how easily the dress up or down and now that I'm always on the ground playing with my daughter, I don't have to worry about flashing anyone!  Target always has great options and love that they are inexpensive (both of these below are less than $20) so that I can stock up on a few pairs and get them in a few different colors.

I put together a couple of cute outfits to show how I'd wear them casually and a bit more dressed up.

I've been taking my daughter to the park quite often now that the weather has been nice so this would be a great outfit to take her in.  Love the print of the shorts and the loose fitting top is a nice casual look without going for the usual tee + shorts route.  Although, I would most likely layer a slim fitting tank underneath, I'm not too comfortable with my midriff showing!  The hat is perfect as I'm not a fan of getting too much sun on my face, I've been getting more freckles and wrinkles than I'd like to admit!

This is a great look to head out to dinner in and enjoy a nice meal outside in one of the many beautiful waterfront restaurants that Seattle has.  Seattle locals very rarely get super dressed up for dinners.  I don't mind being a tad more dressed up but I think this outfit is dressy casual and will stand out in a good way.  I think it looks well put together and really not much thought has to go into it since it's just a top and shorts!  The nude sandals help elongate my short legs and the bag brings in just the right amount of color.

Summer Styles

One thing to love about Summer style is the seemingly endless variety of cute trends to experiment with. Summer hats, for instance, are such a fun and functional way to show your personal style in an outfit.

Spring Picks: Skirts and Tops

Spring means I can pull out all my bright colors!  Not that it stops me from doing that in the winter but I love being able to wear all my fun colors with pretty shoes instead of boots and having to cover it all up with a jacket.  I've been doing a bit of shopping and two things are on my list, fun brightly colored skirts and pretty lace textured tops.

Here are a few I've found during my online browsing sprees:

{1} Floral Lace Skirt  - this one is a must have for my closet!  I love the neon yellow and the pretty texture.  I'm a little iffy on the length as sometimes it doesn't work for my short legs but I'm going to try it and hope it works!
{2} Lavender Skirt - I love a simple little skirt like this and I have one in black but adore this color and it's perfect for spring.
{3} Stripe Skirt - I'm always a fan of flirty little skirts like this, love the stripes and this length usually works better for me.
{4} Blue Skirt - I'm a fan of the shape and the texture and love the added detail of the faux leather waistband.

I've been on such a lace kick and love all these tops that are great if you still want to wear sleeves but stay cool on the same time!

{1} Crochet Top - such a fun color, would pair it just like they did with the white jeans.
{2} Lace Trim Tee - super pretty and would love great with a statement necklace
{3} Embroidered Lace Pullover - this one is my favorite!  I've been loving the all white look and think the texture on this top is perfect for that.
{4} Lace Sleeve Top - I tend to be more casual now that I'm a mom and having to carry Layla around or playing on the floor with her and this top is my kind of casual where I don't feel too dressed down but I'm going to be comfortable enough when I'm playing with her.

Mix and Match Swimwear

I have been on a major swimwear hunt and my first stop is always Target.  I never spend too much on swimwear since I don't get that much use out of it so I love Target for the cute and affordable options.  Layla is also starting swim classes so I've been on a hunt for cute but appropriate "mommy" options.  I found a ton of cute options and I love that I can mix and match all of these suits!

I like these styles that fit like actual tanks and have thick straps.  I've heard the wise advice to get a swimsuit with straps as babies like to pull down swimsuits!  These tops are super cute to even just pair with shorts.

Also loving these simple black and white suits.  The white one comes with straps and the black one is very slimming.  It's so nice to be able to have a couple of options for your tops but still use the same bottoms.

SHOE CRUSH: FLAT STUDDED LEATHER SANDALS

Crushing on these green flat studded leather sandals. They come in black as well, but I've been looking for some statement sandals in a different color. I have way too many in black, so it's time for me to switch it up a bit. Find them here and here.

GIMME GIMME: MARBLE PRINT DRESS

I'm currently lusting after marble everything and this marble print dress hits the spot. Love the length and cut, especially in the back. The thick ankle strap sandals are the perfect touch.

I've always been onboard with pastels but lately have really been feeling the trend.  Mint has been such a great color for the past year and I keep on wanting to add more to my closet.  It's funny, I've never been big on green but this pretty pastel shade has become quite a favorite of mine.  I put together a cute and comfy outfit that is perfect for the spring.  This outfit could also be swapped with a flirty little skirt to make it a bit more dressy!
