Bows & Polka Dots - Summer, Fall and for your Little

Friday, July 25, 2014

Prints are always a fun way to add some personality to your outfit. Personally, I love daintier prints that don’t overwhelm my frame, so currently I’ve been obsessed with bows and polka dots.

For the summer I love little accents that add to my outfits.

For the fall I love an overall print or something that makes an impact.

And lastly for your little girl, bows and polkadots are the perfect pair!

{Beauty} Three Nail Trends For Summer

Thursday, June 26, 2014

I love a good manicure as much as the next girl, so I've been dying to share some of my favourite summer nail trends with you guys! Nail posts are my favourite beauty feature to create (much like last year's treat-filled summer nails), so needless to say I had fun with this one... I hope you guys like it! First up, I like to call this one the "I couldn't decide."

WEARING ESSIE'S "RESORT FLING"* AND JOE FRESH'S "NEON PINK"

You know when you're feeling two shades but you can't for the life of you pick one to paint those fancy fingers of yours? Yup, this look is designed to solve that very problem. And to be honest with you, of the three trends highlighted here, this one's my favourite... It's just so simple yet playful, and it definitely got a few double takes throughout the week — just saying.

Along the same vein, I like to call this look the "split personality," or the clever pairing of two shades per nail. This one also solves the age-old dilemma of not knowing what colour to paint your nails, but it does so in a more artful way. And if you're feeling particularly playful, try pairing this mani with your favourite striped top for a mega-matchy mani... How's that for alliteration?

WEARING AMERICAN APPAREL'S "T-SHIRT" AND ESSIE'S "BIKINI SO TEENY"

Finally, I'm partial to the dot manicure that we've been seeing a lot of lately (or the "Get Dotty," as I like to cal it) for it's simple yet impactful finish. Not to mention the fact that it's ridiculously easy to do — all you need is a bobby pin and a moderately steady hand, and you're in business!

WEARING MARC JACOBS' "LOLA" AND ESSIE'S "FIND ME AN OASIS"*

I hope you guys enjoyed what will likely be the first in several nail posts for summer (let's be real), and please let me know if there are any nail trends that you're especially loving these days... Happy polishing! xx

Shop the trend: Pastel

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I've always been onboard with pastels but lately have really been feeling the trend.  Mint has been such a great color for the past year and I keep on wanting to add more to my closet.  It's funny, I've never been big on green but this pretty pastel shade has become quite a favorite of mine.  I put together a cute and comfy outfit that is perfect for the spring.  This outfit could also be swapped with a flirty little skirt to make it a bit more dressy!

I couldn't help but look around while I was at Target and spotted so many more pastel pieces I'm loving!

{Wardrobe Wednesday} The Leather Cap...

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

 photo LeatherBaseballHats_zps59cd9cef.jpg

Remember a little something called Wardrobe Wednesdays? New readers to AiF won't be familiar with it (it last ran in August 2012!), but basically it was a weekly feature where I would highlight beloved items from the depths of my closet... Basically a "sartorial show-and-tell," if you will. So after much thought (and a little shopping), I thought it might be fun to resurrect the series!

First up — the hat. More specifically, the leather baseball cap. It seems like these badboys are popping up in every store, website and, well, head lately, making them the perfect inaugural (if something can be inaugural twice) WW item. Not to have a total 90's Janet Jackson moment on you or anything, but this is a look that I'm planning on wearing the heck out of this fall.

From oversized sweaters and jeans, to more polished, dresses-n-blazers kinds of days, this Bop Basic beauty is going to be making appearances left, right and center... Kind of like the Kardashian of headwear.

Thanks for reading friends, and be sure to let me know what your thoughts are on WW's return! xx

{Beauty} The Studded Nail Wrap...

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

 photo nailtrend2013_zpsd6f6c542.jpg

Always down for a good nail wrap, I jumped at the chance to try Essie's studded nail wraps when I came across them a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised with the result. Not only did they last forever and bring new life to a classic red mani, but they got compliments every which way I turned. Not to sound too definitive or anything, but I would go so far as to dub the studded mani (in wrap form or otherwise) the top nail trend of the season... But I'm dramatic like that.

Soooo, what's your favourite nail trend this season? Any must-trys? Spill! xx

Shop the trend: Denim on Denim

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

I've loved the denim on denim look but have yet to try it out.  It's such a great look for any season but looking forward to trying out some looks for the summer.  Some inspiration from some fabulous ladies...
top: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
bottom: 1 | 2

And my picks!  I adore the denim dresses.  Probably the easiest way to wear this trend but also loving the cute top and blazer that could be worn together with some bright colored jeans or shorts!

And I created a couple of fun outfits to pair with these adorable skirts.  You can have fun with this combo in so many ways!

Right: 1. Bag 2. Necklace 3. Skirt 4. Bracelet 5. Wedges

P.S.  If you don't follow our t+j Designs blog, we are holding another fun link up!  Show us your best Stripe Style and link it up so that we can see your outfits!  The blogger that we love the most will win two of our newest bracelets (including that anchor one you see above)!  Check out the details here and link up to our post on Wednesday!

Shop the Trend: Peter Pan

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

I'm a little late to the game but I'm suddenly all over the Peter Pan collar.  I've done a few lookbooks with the trend, the black and white top is from Oasap as well as the glitter collar blouse.  But lately I've been falling in love with so many cute tops and dresses, I'm loving the look!
See the lookbook here and here for the outfit details

And an easy way to add this look to any of your tops is with a collar necklace!

it's on sale for $18 and take 30% off all sale with code 30SALE!

And seriously, how cute are these Peter Pan nails? Go here for the tutorial.

Happy Holidays!

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Just wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays!  My sister and I are so grateful for the support that we've gotten for t+j Designs and we want to thank everyone for making 2012 such a fun, fabulous year for us.  Merry Christmas to those of you that are celebrating today!

It's a low key Christmas for us this year so I won't be getting too dressed up but I still can have fun playing dress up on my blog right?

I'm actually contemplating that dress for my New Year's Eve dress, it's darling!  The model above is wearing tights with rhinestones all over and  I love them.  I couldn't find those exact ones but I did find these ones that are similar.  I'm ordering them to try them out!

Right:
get it for $34 today only! (50% off) use code HOLIDAY50

I've never owned a leather dress before (faux or not) and I'm loving the pleats on this one.  It actually seems very wearable.  Definitely easy enough to transition to other occasions by adding a blazer, tights and booties.
