1 Dress - 3 ways

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

I've always been a dress girl, not only for the ease of dressing but also being able to change up the look in so many ways.  I had fun styling this Target dress 3 ways, all great for the summer activities that we had going on.  The dress is such a great print that I think will transition well into the fall as well.

The first look was perfect for a dinner with friends where we dined outside on a beautiful summer evening.  I tossed over one of my favorite striped skirts and of course my bright yellow pumps always have to come out during the summer.  The middle look I wore to go to the Farmer's Market to do some shopping for fresh fruits and veggies, one of my top favorite things to do in the summer!  And the last outfit was perfect for a dinner out at a restaurant and the blazer kept me nice and warm from the air conditioning (which I have to say is a rarity in Seattle, you'll find more restaurants without AC then the ones that do!).
Look 1: Target Dress | Boden Skirt | Louboutin Pumps
Look 2: Target Dress | Madewell Blouse | Prada Wedges
Look 3: Target Dress | J Crew Blazer | Miu Miu Sandals

An instagram pic of some of the fresh blackberries that we picked up that day!  I actually wore these strappy sandals to shop at the farmer's market and then changed to wedges later in the day (which is where I took the photo above) but love that you can change the look of the dress simply by changing the shoes too!

I love this look the best as I love giving my dresses a new life and you really can tell what a little change in hemline does as I hiked up the dress to match the hemline of the skirt and with my short legs, I need it to hit above the knee rather that on the knee.

Shorts Style

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

I used to live in dresses during the summer but once I gave shorts a try (I used to never wear shorts!) I couldn't live without them!  I love how easily the dress up or down and now that I'm always on the ground playing with my daughter, I don't have to worry about flashing anyone!  Target always has great options and love that they are inexpensive (both of these below are less than $20) so that I can stock up on a few pairs and get them in a few different colors.

I put together a couple of cute outfits to show how I'd wear them casually and a bit more dressed up.

I've been taking my daughter to the park quite often now that the weather has been nice so this would be a great outfit to take her in.  Love the print of the shorts and the loose fitting top is a nice casual look without going for the usual tee + shorts route.  Although, I would most likely layer a slim fitting tank underneath, I'm not too comfortable with my midriff showing!  The hat is perfect as I'm not a fan of getting too much sun on my face, I've been getting more freckles and wrinkles than I'd like to admit!

This is a great look to head out to dinner in and enjoy a nice meal outside in one of the many beautiful waterfront restaurants that Seattle has.  Seattle locals very rarely get super dressed up for dinners.  I don't mind being a tad more dressed up but I think this outfit is dressy casual and will stand out in a good way.  I think it looks well put together and really not much thought has to go into it since it's just a top and shorts!  The nude sandals help elongate my short legs and the bag brings in just the right amount of color.

I mentioned this on my last post but just a reminder that I'm now using Cosmic Cart so you can shop right from this post!  Just click on the pictures and it will take you to the products to easily shop without leaving my blog!

Get out of Town: Weekend Travel Essentials

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

I love to travel and have been itching to get away, even for just a weekend.  Weekend trips are short but sometimes it's all you need to refresh your mind and get away with everything that is going on in our every day lives.  I also love weekend trips as packing is so much easier!  I found this travel bag at Target that's the perfect size for taking just your essentials and I found some really cute pieces to take with me as well.

I try not to pack too much during the trips where we are just getting away to relax.  Dresses are the best thing as you don't have to even think about putting together a full outfit, plus I find that they are the most comfy to travel in especially when you are going on a road trip.

How cute are those sandals?  I may have just bought them in gold too!  And the wedges are perfect for both night and day.

Oh and a fun thing for this post and future posts is that I am using Cosmic Cart, the universal shopping cart for the web. Cosmic Cart lets you buy items from multiple retailers without having to leave my site. When you see the Cosmic Cart icon in photos, click it to shop the look. Happy shopping!

Lookbook: Crop top

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

What I'm Wearing
Blazer: Zara (from a few years ago)
Top: Target - also comes in an overall floral print
Skirt: Target (it's only $8 now!) - the floral version is also super cute and on sale.
Shoes: Louboutin
Necklace: t+j Designs
Bag: YSL (mine is the old version before they became Saint Laurent so it looks slightly different to the one that's out now.)

I love crop tops on others but didn't think that I could pull off the look.  I decided to try one out when I spotted this cute one at Target.  I'm glad I did as I discovered that my short waist actually helps out in this department!  I never intended to show off my mid-section anyway and since the top actually covers most of my waist, all I needed to do was to pull up my skirt a bit higher and it pulled together a cute outfit!  Sometimes I think I'll never try out a trend but I'm glad that I tried this on as I think it really works and will be pairing it with shorts and other skirts!  You may have seen my photo on instagram of a few that I tried on while I was out shopping.

Venus Snap with Embrace Razor

Friday, May 9, 2014

I've been so busy as of late and am now getting ready to go out of town so have been running around like crazy!  I recently found out about the Venus Snap with Embrace Razor and I love it!  It's so small and perfect to fit in my bag.  I've definitely have had my "did I forget to shave" moments and I love the portability of it and that I can keep it in my bag and all I need to do is just add water!

It's become a staple in my gym bag for quick touch ups and I gotta say it's come in handy more than a few times.  It's the perfect size and has a carrying case so you don't have to worry about it getting anything in your bag wet or dirty.

I'm actually packing right now for my trip.  Packing for myself is hard enough but packing for a baby too?  It's like madness!  I can't forget anything.  But I'm happy to pack this little razor with me so that it doesn't need to take up any extra room in my bag.
A few of my quick travel tips:
1) always pack a ziplock bag of necessities for your carry on!  I've been stuck in the airport or dealt with lost luggage a few too many times than I'd like!  Having the necessities has saved me from being able to do something as simple as brush my teeth or wash my face.  If you've ever been stuck in an airport overnight or even just 12 long hours you will know that these simple things are often a lifesaver!
2) to pack more efficiently I always use packing cubes and pack everything in the same category - clothes all go into one, undies/pajamas into another, etc... and then sort everything else in make up bags or zip lock bags.  This makes finding things so much easier and knowing exactly where you packed it.
3) wear your items that have the most bulk!  So even if that means I'll be hot wearing my sweater or cardigan, at least it won't be taking that much more room in my suitcase.  You can always take off your sweater and stash it in your carry on.

Music festival inspired hair tutorial

Thursday, May 8, 2014

I love music festivals during the spring and summer, Washington actually has some great ones that I used to go to and loved going to them. I may be a bit too old to go them now (ok maybe I just feel too old) but I still get inspired by the music and fashion. I put together a hair tutorial inspired by what I would wear if I were to go to a music festival. I wanted something fast and easy but would look great even if it was a bit messy. Herbal Essences sent me their Naked Dry Shampoo to try out which I've been loving and it was perfect for this hair tutorial. It's been awhile since I posted a video but it was fun making this and if I get a chance I may do more! Here's my tutorial, hope you like it!

I mentioned it in the video but also wanted to make sure that you guys didn't miss the Instagram contest. Take a pic of your festival inspired hair and follow @HerbalEssences and tag your photo with #HerbalEssence for a chance to win $1,000! It ends May 15 so you still have some time, make sure to enter soon though! Once you've taken your pic, you can fill out your info here to make sure you are entered!

Mix and Match Swimwear

I have been on a major swimwear hunt and my first stop is always Target.  I never spend too much on swimwear since I don't get that much use out of it so I love Target for the cute and affordable options.  Layla is also starting swim classes so I've been on a hunt for cute but appropriate "mommy" options.  I found a ton of cute options and I love that I can mix and match all of these suits!

I like these styles that fit like actual tanks and have thick straps.  I've heard the wise advice to get a swimsuit with straps as babies like to pull down swimsuits!  These tops are super cute to even just pair with shorts.

Also loving these simple black and white suits.  The white one comes with straps and the black one is very slimming.  It's so nice to be able to have a couple of options for your tops but still use the same bottoms.

Shop the trend: Pastel

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I've always been onboard with pastels but lately have really been feeling the trend.  Mint has been such a great color for the past year and I keep on wanting to add more to my closet.  It's funny, I've never been big on green but this pretty pastel shade has become quite a favorite of mine.  I put together a cute and comfy outfit that is perfect for the spring.  This outfit could also be swapped with a flirty little skirt to make it a bit more dressy!

I couldn't help but look around while I was at Target and spotted so many more pastel pieces I'm loving!

Lookbook: World Prints

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

What I'm Wearing
Target blouse - not only am I loving the print, the colors are so fun on this top!  It comes in black and white as well but the bright pink was just calling my name.
Lovers + Friends Blazer - a white blazer is always a staple for my spring/summer wardrobe.
J Crew Pant - a favorite pant.  I had them in black and when I got them in navy I never thought I'd wear them as much as I do, but I reach for them a lot!
Christian Louboutin Simple pump
Chanel bag -You can't tell but the bag is navy which is just slightly different enough than all my black Chanel bags.  I'm trying to venture into other colors for my Chanel bags but so hard when spending lots of money to buy anything other than black!

http://popsu.gr/rNIt

There's so many cute prints at Target right now.  If you follow me on instagram you may have already seen but I found this adorable crop top and skirt that I am in love with.  Trying to decide if I can pull off the crop top trend right now, but that skirt is all mine! :)

Lookbook: Hot Pink and Stripes

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Boden Full Ponte Skirt - comes in a few different colors.  I bought the full stripey skirt too and it's just as cute!
A striped skirt is always a necessary in my closet!  I can pair it with anything and love this navy one that I can tone down with dark colors during the winter but now that the sun is making an appearance I was able to add a very bright pop of color with it!  It's been a very gray March and I've been in a bit of a dark color funk and even though the skirt is navy, the shape and the pairing options are what make it fun and easy to add a bright color too!  I haven't shopped with Boden before but a quick glance through the catalog and I marked quite a few things to add to my list.  Sizing wise, the brand is I believe based on UK sizing.  The size 2 (their smallest size) fits like an 0/XS.

Shop the trend: Graphic Prints

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

I love the graphic print trend especially in black and white!  I am able to pair any of these prints day and night, with jeans, dresses and skirts.  I am just loving all these pieces and put together some of my favorite finds from target.

A casual everyday look:  I always like to layer my tees with a contrasting tank so this is a fun pattern on pattern look.  And how cute is that wallet/clutch?

Like everyone, I'm looking forward to spring and breaking out my cute skirts!  I love this pink textured skirt and am going to need to add it to my closet!  The textured stripe shirt is such a cute take on just a regular tee, it's more dressy so great for work but also a perfect top for date nights!

Lookbook: Minimalist

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

If you know me, you know I'm a fan of patterns. Polka dots, stripes, florals, I got them all in my closet and I rarely go a day without wearing at least one patterned item.  However for this day, I decided to go for a bit of a minimalistic look and even went with no color.  Sometimes it's good to step out of what you are used to doing as it made me rethink my wardrobe and what I can start pairing certain pieces with.  I actually love this minimilastic look and will be trying it out again!  Of course it wouldn't be me without a little pattern so added in the clutch but I think it helped complete the look!

What I'm Wearing
Target Sweater - Soft, warm and perfect for layering. Love this sweater and wish it came in different colors!
Target Tank Top (layered underneath) - I stock up on these tanks whenever I go to Target.  They are the best and now on sale for $5!
Target Leggings - I've mentioned these leggings so many times but that's how much I love them.  I wear them every chance I get!
Chanel Pumps - Classic pumps are, in my opinion, always worth the investment.
t+j Designs Necklace - Our newest collection including this necklace is launching tomorrow!  So excited to launch some new designs and share our spring collections!  Make sure to follow us on instagram for more previews and behind the scenes shots.

SheInside top
Henry and Belle jeans
Prada booties
vintage Chanel bag
t+j Designs Gold and Black Layered Necklace - today is the last day for our layered necklace flash sale, this style and others are only $28!

Lookbook: Style Steal

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

I've been finding so much cute stuff at Target lately and even though most of the time I go in there needing to buy something for my daughter, I end up with a bunch of clothes in my cart.  Recently I went in just as the Peter Pilotto for Target line came out and I loved the prints so picked out a few things to try on.  This top was a must buy for me as soon as I tried it on.  The quality is nice and soft and the fit is a bit relaxed but I like that it's not too form fitting.  It's a great top to dress up or down.  I have been looking for a fit and flare skirt for awhile and on the same shopping trip I came across this adorable skirt.  It fits great and looks a lot more expensive than it was ($23!).
peter_pilotto_target_lookbookpeter_pilotto_target_lookbook-3peter_pilotto_target_lookbook-2
(sizing - I'm wearing XS in both pieces)

I'm all about dressing with high and low brands and I think Target is a great place to find these kinds of "steals".  I often pair my style steals with my higher end accessories and love that I don't have to spend a lot to make my outfits.

Lookbook: Sporty Chic

Thursday, February 13, 2014

I've never been a "sporty" person with my style but lately my "mom uniform" has turned me onto a lot more comfortable pieces and stuff that doesn't have too many buttons or details that my baby can grab onto and pull off.  I found this adorable bunny sweatshirt at Target (it also comes in pink hearts!) and loved the cute textured detail and it's super comfy!  I also picked up these skinny jeans while I was there and love the fit.

As you can see it was snowing so not the time for me to break out my heels that day.  I put on my wedge sneakers and to top off my "sporty chic" look I of course had to add a statement necklace to complete the look.
