1 Dress - 3 ways

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

I've always been a dress girl, not only for the ease of dressing but also being able to change up the look in so many ways.  I had fun styling this Target dress 3 ways, all great for the summer activities that we had going on.  The dress is such a great print that I think will transition well into the fall as well.

The first look was perfect for a dinner with friends where we dined outside on a beautiful summer evening.  I tossed over one of my favorite striped skirts and of course my bright yellow pumps always have to come out during the summer.  The middle look I wore to go to the Farmer's Market to do some shopping for fresh fruits and veggies, one of my top favorite things to do in the summer!  And the last outfit was perfect for a dinner out at a restaurant and the blazer kept me nice and warm from the air conditioning (which I have to say is a rarity in Seattle, you'll find more restaurants without AC then the ones that do!).
Look 1: Target Dress | Boden Skirt | Louboutin Pumps
Look 2: Target Dress | Madewell Blouse | Prada Wedges
Look 3: Target Dress | J Crew Blazer | Miu Miu Sandals

An instagram pic of some of the fresh blackberries that we picked up that day!  I actually wore these strappy sandals to shop at the farmer's market and then changed to wedges later in the day (which is where I took the photo above) but love that you can change the look of the dress simply by changing the shoes too!

I love this look the best as I love giving my dresses a new life and you really can tell what a little change in hemline does as I hiked up the dress to match the hemline of the skirt and with my short legs, I need it to hit above the knee rather that on the knee.

Chicwish Haul

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

The super sweet ladies over at Chicwish sent over a package of some cute stuff.  When I opened the package and saw this dress, I fell heads over heels in love!  It's so darling I had to share it immediately on instagram.  I don't even need a special occasion to wear it I'm just going to bust it out during a normal day just so I can do twirls in it :)

It's really cute on, I love the addition of the tulle underneath the skirt to make it a bit more poofy.  I got the size small but my chest/ribcage is on the bigger side and it zips up in the chest area but just barely.  So just be aware of that for the sizing!  They have it in black too!

I also got this maxi dress and I love it as well.  The open back is a cute detail.  Best part?  It's actually short enough for us shorties so we don't have to hem it!

I've been into sequins lately so when I spotted this sweater it was on my "just ugly enough to be cute" list if you know what I mean.  But when I got it I actually liked it on!  It's pretty comfy and love the sequin details!

Adore how she paired it with a skirt, will do the same!

I had the same thoughts with this sweater but wanted to try it out since it's so different than anything I have in my closet.  I don't love it as much as the sweater above but still cute!  It actually looks really cute paired with my slouchy boyfriend jeans.

I've ordered from Chicwish a couple of times now and have always been pleased with my purchases.  You can see my last haul from them here.  Quality wise, their clothes are still in the "junior clothing" for quality and fit however it's probably a step above Forever 21 in that the materials they use are a bit thicker and the attention to detail is better.  The things that I've washed haven't shrunk instantly or became misshapen or pilly.  I highly recommend them, plus they just have a lot of cute styles that I don't find anywhere else.  Sizing wise their smalls fit more like an XS and their "one size" items fits more like a Medium.  Hope that helps if you guys decide to order from them!

Rockstud Tote Look for Less

Thursday, March 14, 2013

I've been eyeing this Valentino Rockstud Tote FOREVER but the price has made me stay away.
I spotted the Freya Tote which is oh just about $1,900 cheaper!  I actually really like the color options of this.  Am seriously contemplating on getting it.  I've never owned a Juicy Couture bag so not sure about the leather quality.  Might have to see if Nordstrom carries it to test it out!

Ever since I bought this dress (it's now on sale!) that I wore for my photoshoot with my husband, I've been shopping at Juicy Couture for cute dresses and am just loving their spring collection.

I love the flouncy bottoms of these dresses as you can easily pair something over the top like I did in the outfit above and it doubles as a skirt.

Flirty Dot Dress - on sale and comes in red too
Structured Dress - sleeveless version of my dress

Get Your Glamour On: Wearable Red Carpet Styles

Monday, February 11, 2013

I don't really watch award shows, I actually just watch the pre-shows to see what everyone is wearing as that's the best part!  I love red carpet fashion and even though the dresses are beyond gorgeous, there is no way I would ever get a chance to wear something like that.  When Mazda asked us how we would translate red carpet fashion to wearable everyday styles, I thought about it and instantly thought of the gorgeous colors that you see the celebs wear during award season.  Often times the colors they choose are THE colors of the season or become the colors.  I love getting inspiration from these celebs and creating my own everyday outfits.

The pink dresses as seen on Leah Michelle and Nina Dobrev is such a pretty pink.  Pink is often associated with super girly but I love this bright pop that makes it a bit more sexy and grown up.

I love how Olivia Munn took the color to her skirt and paired it with a lace top and peter pan collar.  It's still dressy but much more wearable.

The color is so gorgeous and I found quite a few dresses that are easily wearable for work or play.

jordan dress  - adore the colorblock and it's on sale
olivia dress - I'm such a fan of long sleeve dresses and can't resist it in this color
DKNY Colorblock Dress - another great colorblock but a bit more work appropriate
Miles of Lace Dress - a fun lace dress to get me excited for spring!

And here's how I translate the color into a very wearable outfit for me!

Kate Spade Lillian | Pleated Skirt
Love Chain Bracelet | Gem Chain Bracelet
OCC Nail Polish | Pave Drop Earrings | YSL Lip Gloss
Rockstud Clutch | Tribute Pump
Navy was also a big color on the red carpet and I love these ladies' looks.

Just like how we can take these red carpet dresses as inspiration for our every day wear, Mazda's CX-9 is artfully crafted yet utilitarian.

Colored Lace for New Year's Eve

Friday, December 21, 2012

image from Net-a-Porter Issa Capsule Collection

When I'm flipping through magazines, I tend to tear out a lot of pages of stuff that I like (I do this because I try to toss magazines as soon as I'm done reading them or else I would hoard a million magazines.) and recently I've been tearing out pages on colored lace and I'm now on the hunt for them!  I'm thinking instead of going sparkles and sequins like I usually do for New Year's Eve, I'm going to do a fun color lace!

I love this one but they are out of my size.  On it's own it's alright but with the addition of the right accessories, it's so glam!  I'm loving the color and thinking that it would be a cute summer wedding dress too.

From L to R:
Erin Fetherston - love this gorgeous coral color and if you can't tell I'm a fan of long sleeve dresses.  I love the mixture of the lace with the silky skirt
Milly - this gray lace is so pretty.  I'd wear the blouse version of this too.  I think paired just like how they have it and a cream/off white blazer would be a great look.   (on another note, love this Milly lace top too!)
DVF - I'm not a huge fan of body hugging dresses but I do like the shape and the pretty color.  It is easy to just add a jacket or even a cozy sweater to change up the look and hide the flaws that a body hugging dress like this might highlight on its own.
T Bags - more casual than the rest but I think it would still work well for a New Year's Eve party.  I'd add some glam, blingy jewels (like this statement necklace), gold heels and a gold cutch.

I found some great casual looks too.  Love this top, love this look!  I would do a different skirt, probably this faux leather pleated skirt but still it's so cute!

Some more budget friendly options from Forever 21.

If you are in the Chicago area, I wanted to let you know that my fabulous sister is hosting an event at Escada!  I so wish I was there to go but I know she would love to have you guys there for a great evening of fashion and fun!  See the details below and RSVP if you can make it.
