Lookbook: Golden Globes Inspired

Monday, January 13, 2014

Did you watch the Golden Globes last night?  Oh goodness, so many pretty looks on the celebs last night!  These are my favorite looks, love everything about them!

I was also inspired to create my own red carpet look out of my own closet.  My inspiration for the look was all these gorgeous black and white looks!  I love color but I think when you want glamour, you can never go wrong with a classic black and white look.

Of course I'm not walking a red carpet but my look works perfect for a dinner with my girlfriends.  I'm just loving the different ways I can dress up this dress but adding a classic blazer with a leather lapel was the perfect twist that I needed.  And of course you can't do Golden Globes without lots of gorgeous jewelry so had to add a few of my sparkliest pieces!

Got some questions about this dress from my haul post and size wise I got the Size M as I've found SheInside can run small in their dresses and I was correct with this one as it fits just right.  For reference I'm typically a size 0 or XS in most brands.  The quality of the skirt part is nice and thick with just the right amount of "poof".  The top has a leather-like lining at the top that makes the neckline a bit wonky but I solve that with either wearing another top over it or covering it with a big necklace like I did here.  For a less than $40 dress, I'm happy with it!

Get Your Glamour On: Wearable Red Carpet Styles

Monday, February 11, 2013

I don't really watch award shows, I actually just watch the pre-shows to see what everyone is wearing as that's the best part!  I love red carpet fashion and even though the dresses are beyond gorgeous, there is no way I would ever get a chance to wear something like that.  When Mazda asked us how we would translate red carpet fashion to wearable everyday styles, I thought about it and instantly thought of the gorgeous colors that you see the celebs wear during award season.  Often times the colors they choose are THE colors of the season or become the colors.  I love getting inspiration from these celebs and creating my own everyday outfits.

The pink dresses as seen on Leah Michelle and Nina Dobrev is such a pretty pink.  Pink is often associated with super girly but I love this bright pop that makes it a bit more sexy and grown up.

I love how Olivia Munn took the color to her skirt and paired it with a lace top and peter pan collar.  It's still dressy but much more wearable.

The color is so gorgeous and I found quite a few dresses that are easily wearable for work or play.

jordan dress  - adore the colorblock and it's on sale
olivia dress - I'm such a fan of long sleeve dresses and can't resist it in this color
DKNY Colorblock Dress - another great colorblock but a bit more work appropriate
Miles of Lace Dress - a fun lace dress to get me excited for spring!

And here's how I translate the color into a very wearable outfit for me!

Kate Spade Lillian | Pleated Skirt
Love Chain Bracelet | Gem Chain Bracelet
OCC Nail Polish | Pave Drop Earrings | YSL Lip Gloss
Rockstud Clutch | Tribute Pump
Navy was also a big color on the red carpet and I love these ladies' looks.

Just like how we can take these red carpet dresses as inspiration for our every day wear, Mazda's CX-9 is artfully crafted yet utilitarian.

Celeb Style: Rachel Bilson

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

You know what's funny? I've never seen anything that Rachel Bilson is in but she is one of my favorites for celeb fashion.  She always does a great job of mixing in colors and prints.  She also dresses really well for her size which is so tiny and petite but she never looks overwhelemed in big prints or flowy dresses.  It just works on her and I am always finding myself tearing out pages of my magazines with her outfits and of course pinning her outfits to my boards.

This is the latest outfit of hers that I just love.  The shoes are amazing!  (and a few of you sharp eye readers spotted them in my shoe shopping post.  I did try them on!)   The colors of the entire outfit are just gorgeous.  You'd think with a printed dress you'd go with a more neutral shoe but the way she paired these together just works!

I think I still have the magazine tear out of when I first spotted this outfit.  I love the bright jacket with the neutral dress.  I have yet to try out this look but I think I'm now on a hunt for a similar dress so I can recreate it!

I just love this outfit, the colors, the prints, the "poofiness" and her makeup looks amazing too.

A chic and unfussy outfit.  Loving the leather shorts and I think that might be a tweed jacket.  I actually spotted that clutch at the Chanel boutique last week and loved it (but not the price tag!)  And the shoes are just hot.  She didn't incorporate color into this outfit and I'm loving the simplicity of it.

Lauren Conrad Style

Thursday, May 3, 2012

I admit to being a Laguna Beach addict back in the day.  I loved the high school drama, relationships, friendships, etc... What I didn't expect was to end up loving the style of one of the girls from the show.  Of course I'm talking about Lauren Conrad who, in the past few years, I've come to adore her style and am always looking at my celebrity magazines to see what she's wearing.

This is one of my favorite of her recent outfits.  I'm totally going to recreate it soon!

I love this casual maxi dress look and her hair always looks great too.  I love the loose waves.

Even her casual outfits are so chic.  I love her sunglasses, anyone know what brand those are?

I think it's cute how she's even got her own signature style with her top knot and cat eye liner.

So tell me, were you on "Team LC" or "Team Kristen"?  :)
