Lookbook: Golden Globes Inspired

Did you watch the Golden Globes last night?  Oh goodness, so many pretty looks on the celebs last night!  These are my favorite looks, love everything about them!

I was also inspired to create my own red carpet look out of my own closet.  My inspiration for the look was all these gorgeous black and white looks!  I love color but I think when you want glamour, you can never go wrong with a classic black and white look.

Of course I'm not walking a red carpet but my look works perfect for a dinner with my girlfriends.  I'm just loving the different ways I can dress up this dress but adding a classic blazer with a leather lapel was the perfect twist that I needed.  And of course you can't do Golden Globes without lots of gorgeous jewelry so had to add a few of my sparkliest pieces!

Got some questions about this dress from my haul post and size wise I got the Size M as I've found SheInside can run small in their dresses and I was correct with this one as it fits just right.  For reference I'm typically a size 0 or XS in most brands.  The quality of the skirt part is nice and thick with just the right amount of "poof".  The top has a leather-like lining at the top that makes the neckline a bit wonky but I solve that with either wearing another top over it or covering it with a big necklace like I did here.  For a less than $40 dress, I'm happy with it!

Lookbook: Tulle & Chanel

What I'm Wearing
SheInside Blouse - I love the girly details of this blouse.  I've had pretty good luck thus far with my SheInside blouses, I also love this mint blouse and pretty lace blouse.
Ebay Tulle Skirt - I was on a hunt for a tulle skirt for awhile (I thought it might be cute to wear with a baby bump but I may be re-thinking that now. ha!) and could not find one in a decent price range until I randomly decided to look Ebay and there it was for cheap!  The quality actually isn't that bad and it fits great so if you are looking for a tulle skirt, I highly recommend getting it from there!  I just saw that ModCloth has one for a good price and is a lot poofier than mine.
Manolo Blahnik Pumps - Mine have sequins on them which make them a bit fancy but I still wear them all the time.  Loving the studded versions too.

Maybe it's the baby girl growing inside of me but I'm feeling extra girly these days :)  I know a tulle skirt isn't the most practical of items but after seeing a few pictures on pinterest of girls wearing them, I just had to have one!

Lisette L pants c/o (I'm wearing style #801 in B&W dots) - These pants are a bit different in that they are made with body shaping fabric and they are a pull on design so no zippers or buttons.  They are supposed to slim the lower abdomen, contour the hips and shape the behind.  I'm wearing the size 0 and to be honest, it didn't do much for me.  Trust me, I do need help in the abdomen area and I do love shapewear but these were still a bit baggy for me so wasn't able to do it's job.  If they made them in a smaller size, I think I would love them!  I definitely could feel the difference in the fabric and that it gave it a gentle squeeze in the areas that we most need them.  I just needed the right size but otherwise, I think the concept of the pants are fantastic!  Also, these are their cropped length but they are too long for me so I rolled them under twice.  haha, I'm so short!
Manolo Blahnik pumps - I'm all about the pointy toes now.  Loft has these pointy toe pumps in really fun colors for a great price.  I love the yellow ones!

OASAP Blouse - sold out.  I just got this polka dot blouse too and it's really cute!
J Crew Cafe Capri - on sale!  The color I'm wearing is soft fuschia and it's on sale for $39.99.  I love these pants, they are great work pants but with the bright colors, they work for any day.  Sizing wise, they run pretty big, I'm wearing the Petite 00 and I usually am a regular 0 in other brands, but the petite sizing works best for me in these.
Manolo Blahnik pumps - love love these pumps.  If you follow me on instagram you saw that I spotted the cap toe versions which are now very high on my wishlist!

I always tend to be on the cold side.  My husband jokes that during the summer, I'm the only person that you can find snuggled under a fleece blanket.  :)  I definitely try to dress appropriately for the weather but knowing me, I'll always end up complaining about it being cold, so my favorite accessory during any season is a scarf.  I love lightweight scarves in the summer, I got this one years ago and it's definitely a favorite.  I was off to a meeting so wanted to make sure that I was going to be warm enough in the air conditioned office and also brought my lightweight and sleek Intel Inspired Ultrabook.  When I don't need my scarf, I usually just tuck it into my bag or wrap it around the handles.

A few other fun scarf options for under $11.  I love mixing patterns in your outfit so simple patterns like stripes, dots or star prints are always easy to mix  It's funny when I look at my scarves, my colorful scarves are almost all pink.  I guess it's just the right pop of color for a scarf and I really like the subtle metallic stripes of this one.  It would look great with jeans and a tee.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Haul!

Did some shopping yesterday at the Nordstrom Half Yearly sale and wanted to share my finds!

Love these two from Via C.  The silky Rag & Bone top is a bit pajama-y but in a good way.  The sequin cardigan fits really well and although I do like sequins and sparkle (I was even wearing my sequin heels that day!) I'm a little hesitant on this as it is very sparkly in person but I got it anyway.  Going to try pairing it with stuff in my closet to see how I can make it work.

Please ignore my very mismatched top :) I love these jeans and glad to see they went on sale.  I ended up getting the cream pair as I didn't love the navy on me but I think both are really cute.  I bought a size down in these as they were pretty baggy in the butt and knees in my regular size but quite a few of the online reviews mentioned that they ran small and people had to order a size up.  Very confusing so I suggest going to the store to try these on if you can.  Oh and the SA told me that they were to be worn cuffed up so I tried them both ways, cuffed up and folded in, that's why I look like a weirdo in these pics.  haha!

This is not on sale but I succumbed to the double points (I love my Nordstrom card!) and ended up getting a new bag!  I've had my eye on the Double Zip tote for awhile (as you know from this post - which I know I still need to do a review of the bag I did get!) and when I walked into the boutique this time, I spotted this little gray bag and instantly fell in love.  It was like a mini version of the tote that I've been loving and I loved the addition of the shoulder strap.  The SA said it just came this week and the color is new for them as well.  This is a terrible picture but the gray is SO pretty in person.  I'm not sure if I'm keeping it because when I got home I decided that it was a little too small for my taste and that I'm kinda crazy for having 3 gray bags... but nonetheless it's such a cute bag so I had to show you guys.

I went shopping with the fabulous Yvonne and we managed to spend 3 hours at Nordstrom but didn't even hit all the departments so later that night, I put in an order online for the stuff I didn't get a chance to see.

{1} I love these type of work out tops and I am totally addicted to my Lululemon racerback tanks but awhile back I stumbled upon an article that was saying that Zella was created by someone that had designed for Lululemon so the stuff was very similar and the price was better.  I do have a pair of Zella workout capris that I love so when I saw these tops on sale for $20, I had to pick them up.

{2} Nothing is worse than when you're wearing a cute top but for some reason or the other, either a bloated tummy or just how some pants fit, you get weird lumps and bumps in your waist area which are noticeable through the shirt.  I use shaping tops for this purpose as it sucks you in and creates a very smooth area so you aren't distracted by how your tummy looks in that top!  I also really like to wear nude camisoles under sheer or white tops so I thought this would be cute with the lace detailing up top.

I want to get a new pair of sunglasses but I'm over paying $$$ for sunglasses so I loved the price point of these.  I have a hard time finding glasses that fit me as my nose bridge is very flat so often times the sunglasses hit my cheeks instead of my nose which is not a cute look at all.  I'm not sure that either of these will work out but thought I'd get them just to try.

What I'm Wearing
* LC Lauren Conrad Boyfriend Blazer (c/o Kohl's) - I told you I wear these blazers a lot.  This is my typical lazy Sunday outfit so I reach for them almost every weekend.  The Lauren Conrad stuff is so cute.  I recently bought this Chiffon Blazer that's even more gorgeous in person.  I'll have a lookbook soon with it.
* Jennifer Lopez Foil Tank (c/o Kohl's) - you know how some tanks end up really wrinkly and don't look so great under blazers?  This one is a little bit stiffer so you don't get the weird wrinkles.  There's a hint of shimmer to it but not too much so it's great for daytime.
*Blank NYC Skinny Jeans (on sale) - they just got in these jeans in metallic coated!  I'm intrigued, going to try them out.
*Light as a Feather Scarf (gift from Happy Scarf) - comes in black too.  I love the pattern of this scarf and it's so light and soft.  I wore it a ton this winter but it's also light enough to wear in the spring.
*Manolo Blahnik sequin pumps - (similar in black and in metallic) these are the ones that I got at Century 21 that you saw in my March Photos post.  I thought that I might not wear them so much because of the sequins but actually the sequins make them even more appealing to wear them a ton!
