Weekend Reading: 01.25.14

Saturday, January 25, 2014

This week has been a doozy, with a different event or obligation nearly every night on top of everything else. So aside from a couple fun outings (including a date with Kastles and a trip to Swept), I'm laying low this weekend. So if you're like me you have a chill weekend ahead, here are some links to check out  — happy reading!

 1. Grace's reflection on blogging over the years really resonated with me — especially that plaguing feeling of not adding anything of value to the world.

3. Ever since Sandy Joe shared the video on her blog, I'm obsessed with this song! So. Good.

4. This photo prop DIY is the cutest.

5. Totes feeling Krystal's date night style.

6. An interesting read for those selling online: What kind of Instagram photos drive sales.

7. The 7 best online workouts (in case you're like me and still need a little push).

8. This copper leaf mani is stunning.

9. I wrote a story for the Edmonton Journal about personalizing your bridal wear — get ready for leather and fur!

10. When imitation is not the sincerest form of flattery — this post really hit home for me as I'm dealing with a similar situation.

Weekend Reading 01.18.14

Saturday, January 18, 2014

The weekend is in finally here (yippee!) and I'm jonesing hard for a donut... Think that might have something to do with the art selection above? Hmmmm. Well, while I go and do something about this pesky craving of mine, check out some of the links below if you feel like getting your read-on (especially the last article — you won't regret it!).

Happy weekending friends, and see you all back here on Monday! xx

 1. I loved this piece on Grace's career and experiences blogging — what a gal!

2. This excerpt from Never Have I Ever: My Life (So Far) Without A Date is delightful.

3. Totally trying a couple of these juice recipes over the weekend.

4. Some app suggestions to organize your life.

5. If, like me, you're growing out your bangs (so annoying!), check out these tips.

6. This side table DIY makes me feel bad about my own DIY skills.

8. I found this piece on habit building really interesting.

9. This t-shirt is exactly what I want to wear all. weekend. long.

10. And finally, this story about toast (yes, toast) is probably the best thing you'll read all week.

Drawn Out + Weekend Reading

Friday, January 10, 2014

Friday is finally here (yessss), and although it's been a short one for me, I'm majorly pooped. Going back to work after the holidays (and a couple late-night flights) can really take its toll on a girl, especially when most of the week is spent trying to frantically catch-up on lost time... Geeesh. So if you're anything like me, you'll need to spend a couple hours laying in bed with a cup of coffee, just getting lost online. Sounds pretty good right?

Here's a roundup of some interesting reads I've come across this week to get you started... Happy surfing!

1. This engagement story had me all teary-eyed — such a thoughtful proposal, plus I totally identify with the ugly side of wedding planning that Kelly mentions.

2. Here's an assortment of Youtube channels for exercising at home that just may get me off the couch.

3. Totes agree with this article on the 7 habits of highly stylish people.

4. Loving this lighthearted resolution to drink more water... I'm totally rocking it in the water department this week!

5. How to make your own gin (that's right — gin).

6. I've enjoyed my leopard coat so much (on sale here) that now I'm considering getting this Chic Wish coat too... Just don't tell Mr. AiF.

7. Four business apps to love via my friend Alicia... totally downloading Weekly Calendar!

8. A DIY I wish I had thought of first.

9. And finally, this video of Bri Emery's Creative Mornings talk is a must-watch — her career journey is both fascinating and inspiring.

Special thanks goes out to Naomi Sutanto for creating this lovely drawing of me based on this post — thanks girl! You can check out the rest of her work here. Happy Friday!

And if all else fails, you can always give this glitzed-up half moon mani a whirl. So throw on your favourite holiday movie (here's a great round-up of what to watch) and get your polish on. xx

{Inspiration} Three DIYs To Try...

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

If there were more hours in the day, I would spend them DIY'ing up a storm... Until that happens, however, there's always Pinterest for daydreaming purposes. I scratched the galaxy pendant DIY off my list last night by making one for a friend, which means there might be a lips clutch (an oldie but a goodie!) or spotted shoe project in my near future... But if not, hey — one out of three ain't bad either.

What projects are you guys working on? xx
