Lush Blazer - same but in different patterns.  Also floral blazer here on sale for 30% off.  Or in pretty spring colors!
Shop Sosie Blouse - sold out but same top in stripes.  Similar style at Ann Taylor, love the blue.  Or love this button down style for $22.
Madewell Jeans

Bracelets: Gem Chain Bracelet, Bow Bracelet and Pave Link Bracelet

You may have seen a few of these over on my sister's blog but I wanted to share them as well!   It had been awhile since my sister and I had any photos together and so we hired the very talented Jen to come and shoot a few of us together for our site as well as debut some of our newest pieces for our jewelry line.  It's always fun hanging out with my sister but loved having the chance to get some pictures of us too!

pssst... our photographer also has a fashion blog of her own!  Go check it out, she is adorable and you might see some t+j Designs pieces on her too!

December Shopping haul

Friday, January 4, 2013

Before Christmas I took advantage of quite a few sales but have yet to wear any of my items for lookbooks so thought I'd share what I ended up keeping and love so if you guys are interested you can still find them online.

Chicwish has the cutest things and they are now doing 20% off your order of regular price items, use code NY20 and 10% off sale items, code SALE10

The sweaters only come in one size and run quite baggy but I like to wear them with my J Crew Pixie pants and booties for an oversized look.  Plus, they are super warm and cozy so perfect for these freezing cold days we are having.
The pink polka dot blouse is from Sheinside (take $20 off orders over $100 with merryxmas20) and the beige polka dot blouse is from Shop Sosie (it has a bow in the back, it's so cute!).

And just some cute printed items.  I'm big on prints and have been getting more into printed pants and skirts.
J Crew Bow Print Cords (get extra 30% off with code STYLE2013) | Madewell Bow Tee
ShopSosie Lace Blouse - sorry for the terrible picture but this is a new favorite top, love the lace.
Romwe Blouse - Similar style, different print
OASAP Stud Sweater - this is way cuter in person, the quality is great and really soft.

Jewel Print Skirt (c/o Dorothy Perkins)
I love the print of the gems floating at the bottom.  I've been wanting to wear this but the freezing weather has kept me from wearing any sort of dresses or skirts lately.

We've got a great facebook giveaway for my jewelry line!  10 winners will be chosen to win one of our Pretty Baubles necklaces!  The winners will get to choose which color they want out of the 5 colors we carry.  I just love these and they look great layered too!  Find the details on how to enter here.

Have a great weekend!

Being an entrepreneur

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Life has been crazy lately and I'm so busy that my head is spinning constantly and I haven't had a moment to rest.  And that is quite literal as I've been back from China for a week and I'm still not on a consistent sleep schedule.  It's more like a "no sleep" schedule, I'm getting about 3 hours a night.  I'm thinking it won't be about January until I actually get some sleep!

I absolutely love being a business owner and feel lucky and blessed to be living my dreams and doing what I love but what I learned from this year is that being a retailer this time of year means getting no rest or vacation starting from November and I suspect all the way through January.  We started our business only about a year and a half ago so last year we were too new to feel the rush of the holiday shopping madness but this year, OH MY.  What a difference a year makes.  This is not me complaining at all, there is nothing more thrilling to be as busy as we are, it's just that this busy-ness truly smacked me in the face as I didn't expect it to come this quick at all!  I get a lot of emails from readers about what it's like to start a business and how I've managed it all and how I made the decision to leave my corporate job to start a business.  I can tell you that it's been rough and it hasn't been easy but every single thing has been worth the risk.  Just seeing what my sister and I (with the help of my parents and brother) have done in this short amount of time, makes me immensely proud and happy.  To see our jewelry on customers and to get wonderful emails from people that enjoy our line is a joy that I never experienced in my corporate life.  In my year and a half of doing this, I've never thought "ugh, 4 more hours left" or "only 3 more days until the weekend." I used to have those thoughts constantly when I was working in the corporate world.  Every day I'm exhausted but happy and thrilled to be doing what I'm doing and I'm so thankful to everyone in my life who has supported me and helped me live out this dream.

Some of our recent press!

To those of you that that are wanting to take this path in life and becoming an entrepreneur I encourage you to start taking the steps to make your dreams a reality.  It's definitely scary and you'll lose sleep over all the risks that you have to take but to finally be living your dreams is the most amazing thing ever.

I don't feel like I'm any kind of expert but with my experience I can tell you that these are a few things that I've realized what has helped me along the way.

super long and wordy post, click through to read more....

1. Be financially ready - When we started the jewelry line, I was still working as a consultant and was doing both jobs.  I knew I wasn't going to do both forever, so I set a goal date of when I wanted to be full time dedicated to my jewelry line and I saved and saved until I knew that I had enough to not have to work X amount of months.  Having a goal date helped put in perspective that this was going to be "real" and that I may have to live without an income for a certain amount of months.  But putting together this plan helped ease my mind and my fears and helped my husband and I know what to expect.

from Joyce Poon - the owner of Noir Lash Lounge

2. Be prepared for the hard times - Yes not getting paid for all the hard work that you've put in sucks but remember this is your business, not just some job that you clock in and out of and expect a paycheck every two weeks. If you put yourself in the right mindset and knowing that you won't see a profit for awhile, it's a lot easier to go through and you can put it in the back of your mind.  Plus you can use it as motivation to get to where you want to be!

3. If you have a business partner - Communication, communication, communication - My sister and I have always had a good relationship and we've definitely become closer with the start of the business but with that said, we've definitely ran into a few bumps a long the road.  Nothing major of course but all that could be (and is) solved with better communication.  Us living in two different cities and time zones probably doesn't help but even if we lived in the same city and worked in the same office, communication is always important no matter what.  Just being sure that your business partner is on the same page at all times is essential.  To us this means, not just understanding and being on the same page about long term goals, but short term and daily/weekly goals as well.  If you are running the business on your own or even with a small staff, make sure you have set your goals and your staff understands your goals!  It's so much easier when everyone is working towards the same thing.

4. Network like you've never networked before - Not only has networking helped us grow like crazy but networking has also helped me meet so many other amazing female entrepreneurs that I can get together with and bounce ideas off each other and learn from each other.  When you network, your community doesn't just grow a little, it grows a lot!  You never know who knows who and who could end up helping you in which way.  I've been connected through friends of friends or co-workers of someone that I met through networking, or even just acquaintances of a networking friend that happened to be able to help out.  Networking through my blog has been amazingly helpful as well!  I've even done some "cold call" networking where I've found out that somebody works at a certain place and I just wrote them an email or called them to introduce myself.  It's crazy just how knowing a few people and asking the right questions can lead you to so many more opportunities your way.

5. This.

from Pinterest.  I don't have the original source but if you do, let me know so I can credit it properly.

Believe in yourself.  Create your own opportunities.  Nobody else is going to do it for you.

And really lastly I couldn't have done any of this without my support system.  My husband has been amazing through all of this.  I worked through the entire Thanksgiving week and in the past month, I've probably only spent a few full days with him as I left for China and came back but now spend most of my nights and weekends working with our shipping team and don't get home until after he's asleep.  He doesn't like being away from me this much but he also understands that it's what I need to do right now.  Through everything the business has been through, he's supported me 100% and although the decisions are mine, having him behind me has been amazing.  The same with my family.  Along with my sister, who has been amazing to work with and partner with, my parents and brother have been a huge part of this business from the start and to have the support of our family I think just motivates us all to go bigger and do better each and every day.  I've been through some rough days but talking with my family on those rough days help me find a different perspective and understand why we all are doing this.

My business isn't just my job or my career, it's my life and I couldn't see it any other way.  I don't talk about this topic a lot as I do try to keep my blog and business separate (although it's a fashion/style blog so of course I will incorporate it in some way! I just don't talk about the business side of it so much.) but if you want to follow someone with fantastic advice about being an entrepreneur, check out Tasha at Imperfect Concepts.  Her Instagram is always full of great advice and what books/articles to read.  Plus she's just the sweetest, coolest chick I've met on the internet!

Lookbook: Neon and Fur

What I'm Wearing
J Crew Sweater - now on sale. I like these sweaters big so I got a size Small.  I'm usually an XXS or XS in J Crew.  Love the color!
Madewell Jeans - my favorite ever jeans.  They run true to size and in comparison to J Crew jeans, they run smaller/tighter.
Roberto Del Carlo Boots - similar but knee high These are old but very much favorites.  So comfy and love how they keep  my entire leg warm!  These Rachel Zoe OTK boots are amazing.  I'm a fan of flat OTK boots as well.  I'm eyeing these Juicy Couture ones.  These are a better price point and I've seen a lot of people with them and they're really cute on.
OASAP Coat (c/o) - I'm the queen of black coats.  I have so many but I could not resist this one with the fun star buttons and a fur hood.  This shawl collar coat is also really cute and looks really warm.
Moni Moni Baby Monique bag (c/o) - thanks to Moni Moni for sending over this fab crossbody.  I love the soft leather and the pretty gold.  I've been changing up my cross body bags with this one and it holds a good amount of stuff in it besides it being small.  I love carrying it as a clutch as well.
t+j Designs 18K Pave Link Bracelets in Gold/Diamond Pave and Turquoise Pave - our best selling 18K Pave Link Bracelet now comes in several colors!  These are selling like crazy and I highly suggest if you like them to get on it quick! :)

The colder it gets, the less I feel like getting dressed up so a big comfy sweater, skinny jeans and my favorite OTK boots is all that I've been wearing lately!

B Brian Atwood on Sale

Friday, November 9, 2012

I was browsing the Saks sale and came across all of these B Brian Atwood shoes on sale so wanted to share as after I got my pumps at the Nordstrom anniversary sale, I got lots of questions about fit and comfort of these pumps.
I got mine in my regular size 5, however they run slightly big so I have to wear them with Foot Petals to make them fit a bit tighter.  They also run narrow.  Comfort wise, I'd give them about a 6 out of 10.  They are a bit stiff and they aren't the most comfortable but the platform in front does help.  But if you are like me and are okay with a little discomfort, they are really pretty on and I absolutely love the height they give me!  (Mine are also on sale at Nordstrom)

They are a great price now so if you missed them on the anniversary sale, you can get them in these 3 colors.

They also have quite a few pairs of boots on sale.  I'm eyeing these two.  I love the sparkles on the heel of the flat boot!  The cap toe boots look great, however, I have to try them on as knee high boots usually hit me in a weird place because they never account for shorty legs like mine.

These are on sale too! I always try these on when I see them at Nordstrom.  :)  I love how sparkly they are.  I always say if I was getting married again, these are the shoes that I would be wearing.  They're even prettier in person, they sparkle so much!

Oh and also, if you love bows, you'll love the sale we're having for my jewelry line!  All of our bow items are 50% off this weekend only.
Just a few of my favorite bow rings!  Get them here for 50% off.  Use code FABBOW

LC Lauren Conrad Holiday Collection + more sales & discounts

Friday, November 2, 2012

Did you see Lauren Conrad's latest collection for Kohl's?  I LOVE it!  Every piece is so cute and perfect for the holidays.  I spotted these over on her website and fell in love.  Kohl's has a coupon for extra 15% off with code HARVEST (ends Sunday) so I picked up a few things.  I have a few LC Lauren Conrad pieces that I got a while ago (you may also remember I did a video with Kohl's which was when I was introduced to the line.) and I have to say the quality is fantastic for the price.  Also, the LC line runs more true to size than some of their other lines which I like as I find that almost every thing else at Kohl's runs a little larger.

Love love these pieces...

read more for a few more sales going on and my picks...

If you are wanting some new jewelry, we're having an additional 50% off sale for my jewelry line!  Check it out here!

One of my favorite necklaces (from this lookbook) is $5 after the discount!

You may already know that Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale is going on right now, which also means that the Designer shoe sale is coming soon! (it's usually starts about a week after the half yearly but I don't have confirmation yet.)  I'll give you updates on what I find out from my SA.  Here's a few picks from the half yearly.  Everything is 40% off! (And if you shop online, use your ebates! Nordstrom is 3% cashback)

They have some really cute bags on sale too (obviously I'm a fan of sequins and bows!)

Happy sale shopping and have a good weekend!

Cabo Trip

Friday, October 12, 2012

I wasn't planning on writing a post about my vacation but then I looked through my phone and had quite a few pics so thought I'd share.  My husband and I have been so busy the past few months and we wanted to really just get away and have a nice relaxing vacation so I thought very little about my blog during that time and just enjoyed the moments without thinking "I should blog about this." We of course took photos with our DSLR but I wouldn't be me without taking a million photos on my phone.  A day does not go by without me taking photos on my phone.  Sometimes I share them on instagram but mostly they just stay on my phone for memories sake :)

A quick snap of the beach on the day we arrived.  It was wonderfully warm and a bit humid but not TOO hot which was great.

I don't usually wear jewelry when going to the beach/pool but we were just taking a stroll along the beach after lunch so I wanted to get a picture of my jewelry against the sand.  I wore a very neon outfit!  (tank by Aerie and shorts by J Crew)

photo heavy post, click to read more

We've been to Mexico several times and almost every resort we stayed at has just had OK food.  The resort we stayed at this time (Fiesta Americana) had really great authentic Mexican food.  We are not fans of the all inclusive resorts as we've found that food quality is not as great at all inclusives so you do end up paying a lot for food at resorts but it's well worth it to me when it's yummy.  Their homemade tortillas were AMAZING.

Shot of the resort from the lobby.  It was such lovely weather, I wish I could be there now!

An outfit shot before dinner.  I like to keep it minimal when on vacation so I mostly pack just dresses.

There was a hurricane nearby so the waves were a bit more rough.  We had one day that just poured buckets but it was nice to have a day away from the sun as both my husband and I, even though we slathered on sun screen, managed to get sunburned.  We sat in the outside (covered) patio of one of the restaurants with some drinks and watched the rain pour down.  It was actually quite entertaining :)

One of those weird touristy photos, where I'm just posing by a giant cactus.  LOL. I'm not a big pop drinker but even I could not resist the deliciousness of Mexican pops.  The coke was delightful of course but I loved the Orange Fanta.  It really is much better in Mexico!

Just another stroll on the beach on one of the last days.  We spent a lot of time laying by the beach, reading and napping but I really enjoyed walking along the beach, dipping our toes in the water and being with my husband, just the two of us.  (That's the awesome part about going to Mexico in September, the beach was almost always empty!)

It was my birthday during that week and we went partly to celebrate my birthday and partly just to go on a vacation.  I've had a lot of great birthdays but this one with just my husband and I was one of the best ones yet. :)

Neon Love

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

I am on such a neon kick, I can't help but want to pick up everything that is bright, bright, bright! And because accessories are the easiest to wear (and more fun, I think) I've gotten a few things that I've been adding to my outfits non stop.

I do love the neon accessories but I want to add a few pieces to my wardrobe as well so have been shopping around and here are a few of my picks.

Jewelry Loves + New Arrivals

Monday, July 30, 2012

Since starting my jewelry line my place is now covered in jewelry.  Whether it's our latest collection, samples from our next collection and parts of jewelry to make into designs, it's just jewelry everywhere.  And to be honest, I kind of love it :)

My business meetings these days are usually for PR opportunities, colloborations or just general networking with other small business owners.  I usually try to bring a few pieces of our jewelry to show as seeing the pieces in person is so much more different than just seeing a picture.  I always have my laptop with me as well in case I need to pull up our website and ever since I recieved my Intel Ultrabook, it's been my main computer that I go anywhere with.  The long battery life is so awesome, it runs for hours but can also be put on standby for days which means that running out of batteries while your out and scrambling to find an outlet is not something I have to worry about.

Some of my favorite t+j Designs pieces with my Ultrabook

To tell you the truth, I don't love PC's because the size and weight of the laptops are always a problem for me.  During my consulting days, I'd have several different laptops because I would use the laptops that the client issued to me and they were all huge, bulky and this is silly to say but they were just ugly.  (you know what I mean don't you?)  I love my Ultrabook as it truly is "ultra stylish" :)  There's no fussy designs or crazy colors, it's just slim and sleek and exactly what I need to take to my meetings.

Ultrabook + Arm Candy!

My sister and I have been crazy busy because we're launching a new collection later this week (30+ new pieces!) and we're both going 100mph trying to get everything done.  Here's a little sneak preview of the pieces that we're launching!

A little stack of friendship bracelets plus colored gems.
my favorite sleek white bangles with gold bars + a pink enamel bracelet that goes with everything.
I really really love small rings/charms these days.  I have been wearing these rings nonstop lately.
So if everything goes right, the new stuff will be in our shop this Wednesday so if you like any of these pieces here, make sure to check it out!

The bottom 3 pics were taken on my iphone and edited with picfx and if you haven't yet, follow me on instagram: tiffanyish :)

Random Updates

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

I was in China all last week so I've been a bit MIA since practically every website is blocked there (even Pinterest! my ultimate online addiction).  Anyway, I'm so glad to be back in the cool Seattle weather as China was blazing hot and they aren't ones for AC over there so even inside it was HOT HOT HOT.

I got super lucky on the trip over as they bumped me up to business class and let me tell you, that 14 hour flight was awesome being able to lie down all the way!  I had to send a photo to my husband of all the leg room that I had.

And I love the fancy meal presentation too :)  If only I could fly business class all the time!

Read more for more randomness :)

It was so awesome to come back to see our necklace featured on WhoWhatWear.com as that is one of my favorite websites!  And thank you to the readers who emailed me to let me know about it, you guys are the best!  The Highlighter Necklace is nearly sold out so get one now before they are completely gone! :)  The bracelet version and the pink version is still available!

I love sharing pictures and seeing everyone else's pictures, which I tend to do on my facebook page, but seeing as almost everyone I know is on instagram, I finally joined!  My username is tiffanyish, I tried to follow everyone on my facebook/twitter but let me know if you are on so I can follow you too!
my first instagram!

Did a little shopping when I got back and was happy to see that Madewell was still having a sale and on top of it, all sale items were an extra 30% off!  Here are the things that I tried on and the 3 sale items came out to be about $110 total!
Left:
Soft Silk Boyshirt - not on sale but love the color.  I have quite a few of their boyshirts and love the fit of them.  See the gray on me here.
Sidestep Skirt - it's cheaper online but I got it for $34.99 from $68 so still a good deal!

Right:
Market Popover - not on sale online, I got it for $34.99.
Skinny Skinny Ankle Colorpop Jeans - a bunch of colors on sale but I don't have any dark purple so I had to snap these up since I love my red ones.  These are way cheaper in store, I got them for $41.99!

I've got lots going on the next few weeks but hoping to get some time to finally enjoy the nice Seattle weather.  Lots of new styles coming to our jewelry line too which I'm super excited to share with you guys.  We are learning lots as we go with our new business and I truly appreciate all the support you guys have given us from the beginning.  Next month will be our ONE YEAR anniversary!  I can't even believe it, it's been such an incredible experience and watching it grow has been amazing and just makes me so happy to finally be doing something that I truly love and am so passionate about.
